Munksjoe Bridge

The position of the bridge between the city centre and the open lake is unique, and requires a clear yet transparent structure to define a space - an urban space which preservies open views from the city over the water.

The bridge is a cable-supported beam bridge. The structural system makes possible an extremely thin bridge deck, ensuring a generous clearance for rowers. The scale and detailing of the bridge is reminescent of street  furniture. The capacity of the bridge may be increased by adding cantilevered steel brackets with hardwood decking to either side.
