DFDS Headquarters
DFDS (The United Steamship Company) has a history spanning three centuries. The company occupied, for more than 150 years, a building from the beginning of the 19th century in Copenhagen Port. It was therefore an epoch-making event for this at once historical and modern company to make the decision to build a new head office.
The building's concept is expressed in the two architecturally separate facades which reflect the company's historical breadth. The east façade, which is clad in white Italian sandstone, is stable, streamlined and maritime in its expression, while the glass façade facing west is open, expansive, modern. The idea is therefore that DFDS, through the head office's architecture, marks its profile as a modern firm with deep stable roots in Danish maritime history.
