Danske Trælast Headquarters

The new headquarters for Danske Traelast (now known as DT Group A/S) are situated on a street corner in one of Copenhagen’s suburbs, in an area characterised by its industrial character.

The building's plan forms a right-angled triangle adapting to the constraints of the site. The building consists of two brick-clad wings embracing the lighter glass curtainwall of the diagonal wing. The three wings of the building surround a glass covered atrium allowing an open connection between all four floors of the building.

The main entrance and reception is found on the ground floor of the glass diagonal wing above which are found meeting rooms and classrooms.  On the ground floor the atrium is directly connected to the two masonry wings.  These house the canteen and meeting facilities, where various informal arrangements and meetings may occur. The three upper floors house open-plan and individual offices.

The solid, monolithic character of the brick-clad facades is emphasized by thin vertical punctures revealing recessed bands of glass behind the heavy walls. The facade of the diagonal wing is a light glass and aluminium facade incorporating sun shading in the form of silk-screened glass louvres.
