DISSING+WEITLING Global Watch wins red dot design award 2010
A new wristwatch designed by DISSING + WEITLING architecture keeps track of the time in all 24 time zones at once. The watch, which has just received the prestigious red dot design award, is a 'must have' for the discerning globetrotter with its simple and coherent design.
Unique overview
The DISSING+WEITLING Global Watch is a specially-made time zone watch, with 24-hour display for all time zones. The hour hand is a dial with 24 city names – one for each of the planet's 24 time zones, with the user's own zone highlighted in red. This unique design makes it possible to see the time in all time zones without re-setting the watch. At a glance, the user can see the current time in London, New York, Tokyo and Dubai.
Prize-winning design
A lengthy design process preceded the launch of the Global Watch. In collaboration, the manufacturer, Time Vision, and the design team from Dissing+Weitling have studied every detail, and with a combination of natural leather, sapphire glass, brushed and polished steel, they have created a unique Swiss-made precision timepiece of high quality. The watch was among 4,252 design products from 57 countries chosen to receive the prestigious international red dot design award in 2010, and together with the other award-winners, it will be exhibited at the red dot design museum in Essen, Germany, from 6 July to 1 August.
