Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers opened

Dissing+Weitling’s 25 storey high rise, the 4-star Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers, Hotel and Conference Centre, opened on 16th November.

Copenhagen Towers, located in the Orestad quarter south of the Copenhagen old city centre, reinforces the identity not only of Copenhagen, but also the Oresund Region as an international centre for commerce. The three 85 m high towers located at the junction of the Oresund Link and the Metro, will form an imposing gateway to the Orestad South development.

The Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers, designed by Dissing+Weitling, with its 365 hotel rooms and conference facilities for up to 800 people, has been planned as a sustainable project since the very first sketches. Amongst the sustainable actions taken are the overall layout of the master plan in which the buildings are orientated the best possible way to the sun, in order to minimise the overheating of the building. Ground water is utilised for heating and cooling,, and the facades have incorporated 2000 m2 solar cell panel - Denmark’s largest solar power generating facade.

In addition to the EU Green Building Certification and the Danish Building regulations low energy Class 2 obtained, the hotel is a CO2 Neutral building - ready to welcome the guests for the UN climate Change Conference in December.
