Copenhagen Towers: Sustainability in Action

D+W's EU Green Building

Copenhagen Towers, a ground-breaking hotel and office building in Ørestad, Copenhagen, leads the pack with integrated technologies for ecological energy-saving and environmentally friendly solutions.

The building lives up to both the EU Green Building certification as well as the Danish Class II Low-Energy rating. Denmark's largest integrated solar cell array to date will produce over 170 Mega-Watt-hours of electricity for the 180,000 m2 building, serving to greatly reduce its CO2 footprint. The solar cells are used as cladding on the Crowne Plaza hotel tower facades.

Dissing+Weitling is at the forefront of sustainable solutions in architecture. Regular in-house workshops and lectures in our studios reinforce our commitment to research and development of sustainable architecure.

The Crowne Plaza Hotel will be completed in advance of the United Nations Climate Conference (COP15) in November, 2009.
